Marina Tomei - Guitar Concert



Guitarist originally from Rome, Italy. She began studying guitar with Maestro Bruno Battisti D'Amario, Ennio Morricone's historic guitarist. She continued her academic studies in Florence, as a scholarship student at the "Luigi Cherubini" Music Conservatory, where she studied with Maestro Francesco Cuoghi. She completed her Bachelor's degree in guitar under the guidance of Maestro Arturo Tallini at the "Santa Cecilia" Music Conservatory in Rome. She participated in international courses for musical improvement with Ricardo Gallén, Dusan Bogdanovich and Magnus Andersson. She was selected to study at the Aspen Music Festival and School, under the guidance of Sharon Isbin, and at the prestigious Accademia Chigiana in Siena, under the guidance of Oscar Ghiglia.

Marina Tomei has given recitals as a soloist in numerous concert halls as well as in international festivals in Europe and America, playing in important venues such as the Sala Carlos Chávez, the Palacio de Bellas Artes, the Auditorio Nacional (Mexico), the Auditorio San Felipe Neri (Cuba), Columbia College (United States), Castel Sant’Angelo, the Museo Napoleónico, Teatro Verdi, Teatro Puccini (Italy), among others. She has also performed with various chamber ensembles and in a guitar quartet, with which she participated in the GuitFest, in a premiere concert of contemporary works in Rome; with the soprano Lourdes Ambriz, with the Cuarteto Latinoamericano and with the mezzo-soprano Guadalupe Paz, with whom she currently forms the Dúo Maja.

Recently, she had the honor of premiering Germain Taillefere’s Concerto on the American continent at the Sala Nezahualcoyotl accompanied by the Eduardo Mata Youth University Orchestra. She also played as a soloist with the State of Mexico Symphony Orchestra, the State of Puebla Symphony Orchestra and the Sonora Philharmonic Orchestra; and with various chamber ensembles such as the Havana Chamber Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of the Michoacana University, the Chamber Orchestra of the State of Zacatecas, the Chamber Orchestra of the IUBA and with the Bellas Ares Chamber Orchestra. She regularly performs on national television (CNN, Channel 11, Televisa, Rai) and makes radio recordings (IMER, Radio UNAM). She is regularly invited to be a judge in international competitions. She completed her second master's degree at the Accademia Internacional di Imola under the direction of Arturo Tallini, Giovanni Puddu, Marcin Dylla, Giulio Tampalini and Matteo Mela.

She is currently a guitar teacher at the Faculty of Music of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where she completed her Master's studies in Musical Interpretation as a scholarship holder, under the guidance of Maestro Juan Carlos Laguna; in addition, she is currently a PhD candidate in Musical Interpretation at the same Faculty.
