Biography
An outstanding Spaniard guitarist and one of the most prominent of her generation, Mabel Millan made her debut as a concert guitarist at the age of 15, at Festival de Guitarra Comarca, in Spain. Ever since, she has successfully performed at important venues in Spain, Italy, Finland, Hungary, Holland, Germany, Portugal, Chile and Mexico; Miss Millan studied under María Esther Guzmán, José Luis Rodrigo and Emilio Romero. She also received masterclasses from prestigious guitarist such as Gerardo Arriaga and Paolo Pegoraro, amongst others. She also received the prestigious David Russell Foundation Scholarship.
Throughout her career, she has obtained 19 first prizes in some of the most important guitar competitions including:
- 1st prize at "Luso-Espanhol" International Competition, Portugal 2009 (Category VI)
- 1st prize at the XII International Music Competition of Benidorm 2010
- 1st Prize and Audience Award in the XIX International Competition Fundación Jacinto e Inocencio Guerrero 2012
- 1st prize at Juan Crisóstomo de Arriaga III International Competition 2014.
Triple prize at Miguel Llobet´s International Guitar Competition 2014, winning first prize, and the Audience and Best Performance of Llobet´s work awards.
"Mabel Millán Gran Recital", with a Mexican record company, was the winner of a Grammy award in 2017 in the category "Best Contemporary Classical Work".
