Julia Villarroel, Guitarist
Originally from Guayaquil, Ecuador, Julia currently resides in Germany. At a young age, she participated in over 200 concerts as part of ensembles, duos, and solo performances, earning recognition, winning competitions, and taking part in national and international festivals. Even while living in Ecuador, she recorded two CDs in duet and ensemble formats, traveled to Venezuela, Spain, and Peru to perform in festivals, and was recognized as a member of the Ecuadorian House of Culture.
She pursued her higher education with Prof. Margarita Escarpa at the CSM de Vigo with honors, and later with Prof. Thomas Müller-Pering at the CSM Franz Liszt in Germany, being awarded the Deutschlandstipendium (German Scholarship) for her extensive artistic career.
In December 2023, she released her first CD with the project "Salgado in Six Strings," a 50-minute production featuring her own transcriptions for duet and solo performances of works by Luis H. Salgado (Ecuadorian composer) and Heitor Villa-Lobos. The CD was recorded in collaboration with her duet partner, Lucija Štivčević.
